Sign must come down

A northbound motorist goes past a recently erected sign on New Cumberland’s Station Hill that state highway officials say must come down. Mayor Linda McNeil said the sign is necessary to keep tractor-trailers off the sidewalk and away from the brick wall. The roadway on Station Hill, part of state Route 2, is only 16 feet wide in some places. But the West Virginia Division of Highways recently informed her that the sign is “non-approved” and could pose a hazard. — Stephen Huba
