Annual bowhunt approaches

WEIRTON – The controlled bowhunt in Weirton will be held from Sept. 29 through Dec. 31, according to a press release issued by the Weirton Police Department.

All participants must be residents of either Brooke or Hancock county.

All hunters planning to participate are required to attend one of the pre-hunt meetings, which will be held at the Millsop Community Center in the Weirton Room. Pre-hunt meetings will be held at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sept. 8 and at 6 p.m. on Sept. 17.

Attendance at one of the pre-hunt meetings is mandatory for all participants. Hunters must bring an International Bowhunter Education Foundation card, drivers license or photo identification and an ink pen to complete applications and paperwork. These items are required.

Revised regulations governing the hunt, hunting permits, maps of the hunting areas and other documents will be issued at the pre-hunt meetings.

There will be an International Bowhunter Education Foundation Course conducted on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11. This is a two-day class. To pre-register, call (304) 670-3343.
