Annual Friendship wine, food festival happens Sept. 5-6
SMITHFIELD, Ohio – Combine wine, food and song with good community fun and you have the Friendship Wine and Food Festival.
Now in its fifth year, the two-day event will be held on Sept. 5 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sept. 6 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Friendship Park.
“The Wine and Food Festival is nestled in the rolling hills of Jefferson County at Rock Point, overlooking the beautiful 80-acre Friendship Park Lake,” said Roger Hilty, president of the Friendship Park Board and chairman of the festival committee. “The festival is getting bigger each year. Our goal is to continue to create a fun, festive atmosphere and give everyone the opportunity to kick back, enjoy the event and see what Friendship Park has to offer.”
All proceeds from the festival go to benefit Friendship Park. Fishing in the lake, hiking, camping and nature trails are just some of the attractions at the park. Hilty said organizers are especially excited about opening the first nine holes of the new Friendship Park Disc Golf Course. The proceeds from last year’s festival helped fund the disc golf course, which is scheduled to open to the public later this fall.
“Please mark Friday and Saturday on your calendars, join the festivities and experience the best that local Ohio wineries, entertainment, food vendors and artisans have to offer,” Hilty said.
This year’s main event sponsors are Husqvarna and M & M Hardware. For tickets and other information, visit FriendshipWineFest.com or call Roger Hilty at (740) 317-9073.
