Area man arrested on drug, firearm charges

WEIRTON – A Steubenville man has been arrested by Weirton police on drug and firearm charges following an investigation in the city’s downtown area Tuesday.

Jaquin Boston, 24, of 473 South 5th St., Steubenville, has been charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and heroin, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to information provided by the Weirton Police Department, officers on Tuesday received a complaint of a strong odor of marijuana in the 3700 block of Orchard Street. During their investigation, officers made contact with Boston and “detected a very strong odor of fresh marijuana,” according to the report.

Officers located approximately 57 grams of marijuana and approximately 7 grams of heroin inside a bag Boston allegedly was carrying.

According to the report, officers received written permission to search a residence on the 3700 block of Orchard Street where Boston reportedly had been staying, and discovered an additional 225 grams of marijuana, approximately 56 grams of heroin, a 9-millimeter handgun and several other items believed by officers to be illegal controlled substances.

Those substances are being sent to the West Virginia State Police lab for further identification, the report said.

The approximate total street value of the identified substances is $14,000.
