School district sets registration

BURGETTSTOWN – Burgettstown Area School District will hold registration from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 9-10 at the Burgettstown Area Elementary Center located at 100 Bavington Road.

Children who are entering kindergarten or entering school for the first time in first grade will be registered. Children whose last names begin with A through M will be registered March 9, and children whose last names begin with N through Z will be registered March 10.

Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 31 to enter kindergarten. Parents or guardians must bring government-issued birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency to the registration. Registration will not be accepted unless all records are provided.

Pennsylvania law mandates the following minimum immunizations: three doses of hepatitis B vaccine, two doses of measles vaccine, preferably as the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine; four doses of the tetanus and diphtheria vaccine; three doses of polio vaccine; and two doses of chicken pox vaccine. A physical and dental exam is required prior to the first day of school. The required forms will be distributed to parents and guardians during registration.

Children and their parents or guardians must reside in the Burgettstown Area School District to enroll. It is not necessary for a child to accompany their parent or guardian for registration.

Any parents who register a child and requests a specific restriction involving custody or guardian issues must present an official court order defining those restrictions.
