St. Ann’s marks 100 years

BULGER — St. Ann’s Church will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a special Mass at 2 p.m. Oct. 16, followed by dinner and music at 5 p.m. at the Pepsi Road House located on state Route 18, Burgettstown.

One Voice Jubilee festival planned

PARIS — Victory Life Church will hold the One Voice Jubilee festival from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the church grounds located at 590 Steubenville Pike.

The festival will include gospel singers and groups from throughout the area. Guest ministers will give homilies. There will be a youth tent with children’s crafts and games; a prayer tent; a Chinese auction; vendors; and concessions.

Parking will be available on the church grounds, and overflow parking will be available at the Starvaggi baseball fields. There is no cost to attend.

Rich Martfos is the praise and worship team leader and leads the church’s music ministry.

Ceremony to honor service dogs

ELDERSVILLE — The Jefferson Township Historical Society will host the 14th-annual Sept. 11, 2001, memorial ceremony at 3 p.m. Sept. 11 at the veterans memorial located at Fire and Cedar roads.

The ceremony will honor the service dogs that served during the terrorist attacks and immediately after. 46th District Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Monongahela, will be the speaker.

Refreshments will be available at the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department immediately following the ceremony.

Car, truck and bike show planned

BURGETTSTOWN — The Greater Burgettstown Senior Center and Knights Creed Motorcycle Organization will hold a “Cruisin’ With the Community” car, truck and bike show from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at the center located at 200 Senior Way.

There is no entry fee, and community choice awards will be distributed. The event will include food, music, a 50/50 drawing, games and face-painting. For information or to register, contact Michelle Prevost at (724) 947-9524.

VFW hosts annual purse bash

SLOVAN — The Burgettstown Volunteer Fire Co. and Slovan Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold the fourth-annual purse bash, beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at the VFW located at 65 Run St.

The cost is $20 per person and includes dinner, refreshments and adult beverages. There will be cash tips, a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction.

Prizes include Michael Kors, Vera Bradley and Coach purses, tablets, televisions and cash prizes. Drawings will be held every 10 minutes until 9 p.m. Winners need not be present.

Beer lovers event in Washington

WASHINGTON — WAGGIN Presents “Fetch a Cold One” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Golf Club of Washington located at 599 Country Club Road.

The evening will feature speaker Mark Brewer, author and illustrator of “Mark Brewer’s Brewology: An Illustrated Dictionary for Beer Lovers.” The event also will include local craft beers, music, food, a book signing and Chinese auction.

Tickets are $60 and proceeds benefit the WAGGIN one-card network for the 20 public libraries of Washington, Greene and Fayette counties.

Sportsman’s Club plans fish fry

PARIS — The Paris Sportsmen’s Club will hold a fish fry from from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 24 at the facility located on Devil’s Den Road.

The meal includes all-you-can eat fish and chicken, fries, coleslaw, macaroni salad and potato salad and beverages. The cost is $10 per person.

Domestic Violence Awareness walk

WASHINGTON — The Domestic Violence Resource Center will hold a “Peace From DV” Walk Oct. 1 to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church of the Covenant located at 267 E. Beau St. The walk begins at noon.

The event will include informational booths, a basket drawing, a guest speaker and music.
