Farm Restaurant

The Farm Restaurant in Florence, seen here in a 40s-era postcard (farm restaurant) and its staff (farm staff) was one of the properties owned and operated by Gus Barbush, perhaps best known for his purchase of the more than 260 houses in the company town of Langeloth. Barbush purchased the town for approximately $500,000 from American Zinc and Chemical Co. in 1948. Barbush also owned the Biddle Hotel in Burgettstown and a general store in Florence. These photos were provided by the Fort Vance Historical Society. The society welcomes those who would like to share digital copies of vintage photos or allow their vintage photos to be scanned into the society’s digital collection. The historical society needs assistance curating its collections; work is done Wednesdays, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Fort Vance Room at the Burgettstown Community Library located at 2 Kerr St. For information about the historical society, to make a donation of funds or to the permanent collection, contact vraninin@aol.com or “like” their Facebook page by searching “Fort Vance Historical Society.”Farm Rest 5 col clr&bw F Rest-Staff 5 col bw
