Heritage library will celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month

MCDONALD — The Heritage Public Library will be celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month in September, and information on the services and opportunities available through local libraries can be found at ilovelibraries.org/library-card.

The library will be closed Sunday in observance of Labor Day.

The library has partnered with the Fort Cherry High School Entrepreneurship Program and the student group has opened a Ranger Emporium, where Fort Cherry apparel and gear can be purchased, at the library. All proceeds will benefit the Entrepreneurship Program.

The board will be meeting at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the meeting room. It is open to the public. The library’s book discussion group will meet at 1 p.m. Sept. 13 at the library, where they will discuss “David and Goliath,” by Malcolm Gladwell. The Friends of Heritage Library is holding a drawing for tickets to the Pittsburgh Steelers-Cleveland Browns Jan. 1 football game.

Play K Kits for preschoolers and Wee Build Blocks are available for use at the library in the Children’s Section. A new kit is available every month. The library has a free wifi and a computer lab available.

The library hosts 46th District Rep. Jason Ortitay, R-Bridgeville, constituent outreach services from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of each month. A staff member is available in the library’s community room. The scheduled dates are Sept. 8 and 22, Oct. 13 and 27 and Nov. 10 and 24.

Heritage Library is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The library is located at 52 Fourth St.
