Plea entered in Mountaineer defrauding case
NEW CUMBERLAND — A Cincinnati man charged with defrauding Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort has entered a conditional guilty plea, along with a promise to testify against his co-defendants, court records said.
Deshante M. Moore, 24, was one of four people indicted by the Hancock County grand jury in April for a scam involving the use of stolen credit card numbers and fake credit cards.
The alleged scheme resulted in the theft of $30,000 from Mountaineer in August 2015.
Moore’s plea of guilty to one count of grand larceny was taken under advisement by Hancock County Circuit Court Judge Jason Cuomo.
As a condition of his post-plea bond, Moore must report to the Hancock County Probation Office at least once a month, pay restitution of $4,000 to Mountaineer and testify against his co-defendants if necessary.
Two counts of forgery of a credit card and one count of fraudulent use of an access device were dismissed as a result of the plea agreement.
Moore could have been sentenced to one to 10 years in prison and received a fine of $2,500.
One of his co-defendants, Tyler Burdette, 24, of Villa Hills, Ky., remains in the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on Sept. 22.
A capias warrant has been issued for another co-defendant, Courtney A. Roberts, 24, of Edgewood, Ky.
