Funds to replace holiday lights

MCDONALD — The McDonald Area Redevelopment Association is raising funds to replace the downtown Christmas lights.

The cost estimate to replace the system is between $25,000 and $35,000. MARA is requesting donations from individuals, businesses and organizations in the McDonald area.

The first phase of the project will replace the electrical infrastructure, establish three power distribution relays and purchase enough lights for the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and McDonald Street. The group hopes to raise approximately $4,500 by the end of September so the first phase can be completed by November and the holiday season.

Tax exempt contributions can be mailed to: McDonald Area Redevelopment Association Christmas Lights Project, PO Box 152, McDonald, PA 15057. Checks should be made out to MARA Christmas Lights. Documentation can be provided to those who make donations.
