Non-profit dance school opens doors
WEIRTON — A dance school with a different kind of focus recently opened its doors in Weirton.
D.A.N.C.E. Enterprises is a non-profit dance school which also places a focus on nutrition and lifelong healthy habits.
Located at 2822 Pennsylvania Ave., D.A.N.C.E. stands for Dance Acro Nutrition Care Enterprises. It is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization, managed by Anna Bartley and overseen by a board of directors.
Bartley explained D.A.N.C.E. is about encouraging a passion for dance and acrobat, while teaching healthy habits in an effort to fight childhood obesity. They want to provide a healthy, supportive and creative atmosphere for all children in the community.
“This is for everybody and anybody,” Bartley said. “It’s about being positive and fun.”
Approximately 230 students are enrolled throughout their varous programs, with eight volunteers currently signed on to teach the classes.
Classes include tap, jazz, acrobat, tumbling, modern, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, pointe, creative movement and adult classes. They also have community outreach programs and nutrition education, with quarterly performances.
D.A.N.C.E. is open 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday. More information can be found through their website at www.dancenterprises.com, or by calling (304) 914-6888.
