Kroger ‘round up’ benefits food bank

Surrounded by store associates Wednesday, Dale Harvey, right, general manager of the Kroger on St. Thomas Drive in Weirton, presented Allyson Lewis of the Mountaineer Food Bank with a donation of $11,330. The money was raised through the store’s “round up” campaign during the last three months, as well as donation boxes at each of the store’s register aisles. As part of the “round up” campaign, customers are given the option to round up their totals to the nearest dollar, with the extra money going to charity. According to Lewis every dollar donated to the Mountaineer Food Bank can be leveraged into providing eight meals for the less fortunate. — Craig Howellkroger-5-bwcolor
