STEUBENVILLE — Tammie McIntosh has been named as the next publisher of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times.

She will begin her duties Jan. 3, according to Robert Nutting, president and CEO of Ogden Newspapers.

McIntosh brings more than 29 years of experience in the newspaper industry to her new position. A longtime resident of Newell, she has an extensive background in advertising and marketing, and has spent the last 17 years as publisher at The (East Liverpool) Review.

“There is such an historical value to the Herald-Star and Daily Times,” McIntosh said. “They are integral parts of their communities, and I am looking forward to building off of that strong foundation.”

She and her husband, Bart, are the parents of a daughter, Lauren.

McIntosh will replace Alex Marshall as publisher of the two newspapers. Marshall, who has held that position for the past 11 years, will end his more-than-40-year career in the newspaper business when he retires on Jan. 2.

“I’ve lived in the Ohio Valley my whole life,” McIntosh said. “As a resident of Columbiana and Hancock counties, I am very familiar with the Steubenville and Weirton area, and am looking forward to becoming a part of the community. The newspapers have a great staff, and I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to work with them to continue to produce quality products.”
