Donation to center

Members of the Weirton Heights Rotary Club donated a check for $30,000 to Weirton Medical Center, which will go directly toward the construction of the BreastCare Center. Groundbreaking for the center, which will be located across from the 9,000-square-foot All About Women suite, is expected to be held this summer, and the center could be ready as early as November. The goal of the center is to bring the best breast care doctors and state-of-the-art diagnostics all to one location, creating a women’s health wing at WMC. “We are honored to be the recipient of this check made possible by the tireless efforts of the Weirton Heights Rotarians and President Paul Lauttamus,” said Kelli McCoy, WMC director of communications. “We cannot thank the Weirton Heights Rotary Club enough for what they are doing for the community.” Among those taking part in the presentation were, from left, Dr. Juginder Luthra, Cheryl Schreiber, Ed Powell, Lisa Soly, Barb Barkley, Lisa Conti, Lauttamus, Dr. Jeremy Crow, McCoy, Carole Scheerbaum, Bill D’Alessio, David Artman, Rich Cunningham, John Frankovitch, Walter Ruszkowski, Roger Isla, Dan Spickard, Dave Whalen and Brenda Mull. The donation represents proceeds from the Rotary Club’s 2017 Mardi Gras event.
