Chromatic Challenge set for May 26

WEIRTON — A new event will welcome summer in the city of Weirton.

The Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation is set to launch the inaugural Chromatic Challenge 3K race on May 26.

The non-competitive race will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Starvaggi Memorial Park, with participants of all ages invited to either run or walk the course.

“As you run the course, volunteers will throw different color powder,” Program Director Chris Krishak explained, noting three color stations will be set up along the route.

Following the race, hot dogs and beverages will be available at Starvaggi Memorial Park, along with music.

The cost to participate is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Pre-registration will take place through May 25 at the Millsop Community Center. Those who pre-register by May 13 will receive a T-shirt. Registration also will be held the day of the race, beginning at 8 a.m. at Starvaggi Memorial Park.

Everyone who registers will receive a one-day pass to Starvaggi Pool on race day. The pass can be used at any point during the 2018 summer pool season.
