New Hancock deputy

George Douglas, left, became the newest deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday, after being sworn in by Chief County Clerk Valerie Truax. Douglas’ grandmother Alice Angelo is pictured pinning his badge while Sheriff Ralph Fletcher looks on. Douglas, a resident of Weirton, is the son of William and Connie Douglas. He is a 2009 graduate of Weir High School and a 2013 graduate of West Liberty University. He began his law enforcement career in May 2016 with the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department. — Contributed
