Brooke Co. grand jury hands down indictments

Area man indicted in tractor-towing death

WELLSBURG — A Colliers man charged with causing the death of a man on a tractor being towed was among 24 people indicted by a Brooke County grand jury on Monday.

Elmer Mollohan Jr., 35, of 303 Dennis Ridge Road, was indicted on charges of driving a vehicle in an impaired state causing a death and negligent homicide.

According to police reports, Mollohan was towing a tractor ridden by Zachary Tost, 34, of Follansbee, on Eldersville Road on May 16, when Mollohan slowed near Kaul’s bend, causing the tractor to collide with the rear of Mollohan’s vehicle.

According to reports, Tost fell from the tractor and was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of severe head injuries. He died on May 22.

Charles W. McAfee, 41, of Georgetown, Pa., was indicted for assault, three counts each of attempted malicious assault and felony destruction of property and two counts of fleeing with reckless disregard in connection with an Aug. 31 police chase from Jefferson Township, Pa., to Ohio Route 7.

According to the indictment, McAfee rammed the vehicles of three officers and caused a West Virginia State Trooper’s hand to be broken.

Also indicted were:

• Foster Burns, 16, of 3616 Morgan Drive, Weirton, two counts of first degree sexual assault and two counts of first degree sexual abuse for alleged acts in 2017. The Brooke County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Burns will be tried as an adult.

• Trevor J. Albert, 20, of Colliers, malicious assault, malicious assault of a child and child abuse resulting in injury for allegedly burning the arm of a child in his care with a cigarette.

• Ralph V. Alviz, 25, Weirton, strangulation and malicious assault for allegedly striking and attempting to choke a woman known to him.

• Jesse J. Hubbard Jr., 48, 673 Spring Ave., Steubenville, third degree sexual assault and several counts of first degree sexual abuse and sexual abuse of a child in his care.

• Harley D. Morris II, 35, 171 Grandview Drive, Wellsburg, possession of a video of a minor in sexually explicit conduct.

• Rebecca Wolfe, 29, of 448 Murphy’s Lane, Wellsburg, transporting heroin into the state with intent to deliver and within 1,000 feet of a school.

• James A. Acconcia Jr., 52, 92 Basil Drive, Weirton, delivery and possession of cocaine, entering a building to commit a larceny and third offense shoplifting.

• Wayne J. Harda, 34, 105 Police Lodge Road, Colliers, delivering heroin and conspiring to do so.

• Alexis D. Majoris, 31, 105 Police Lodge Road, Colliers, aiding and abetting the delivery of heroin and conspiring to do so.

• Lloyd M. Hayes, 30, 745 Virginia Ave., Follansbee, delivery and possession of heroin, conspiring to do so and possession of firearms violation.

• Deanna Godwin, 39, 745 Virginia Ave., Follansbee, possession of heroin with intent to deliver and conspiring to do so.

• Aaron D. Grooms, 32, Rear 204 1/2 Elmer Ave., Weirton, delivering cocaine and conspiring to do so.

• Lawrence Smith, 45, Rear 204 1/2 Elmer Ave., Weirton, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and conspiring to do so.

• Drew Purks, 28, 203 East Parkway, Weirton, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and conspiring to do so.

• Michael K. Carter, 34, Wheeling, obtaining money by false pretense for allegedly accepting money for repairs he didn’t do.

• Kevin D. Truax, 41, 1893 Frankfort Road, New Cumberland, fleeing in a vehicle with reckless disregard in connection with a Feb. 13 police chase in Weirton.

• Brandon M. McLaughlin, 37, 100 Owings St., Weirton, entering a building with intent to commit a larceny and third offense shoplifting.

• Leslie Jones, 41, Weirton, possession of cocaine and third offense shoplifting.

• Tamara S. Jones, 40, Weirton, entering a building with intent to commit a larceny and third offense shoplifting.

• Heather M. Shields, 26, 333 Finance Road, Weirton, entering a building with intent to commit a larceny and petit larceny.

• Stormy Ayers-Courtwright, 22, 850 Gilbert Ave., Follansbee, escape from home confinement.

• Tara Boidock, 38, Houston, Pa., grand larceny for allegedly stealing three computer tablets from a Wellsburg home.
