CHARLESTON (AP) — A West Virginia broadband council executive says Microsoft Corp. is looking to partner with an internet service provider in the state for the company’s broadband expansive initiative starting in July.

According to the Charleston Gazette-Mail , Broadcast Enhancement Council chairman Rob Hinton said at a meeting last week Microsoft “will be pushing very hard” to find a partner for its Rural Airband Initiative.

Hinton says the company hopes to invest $1 million to $2 million in West Virginia, but he says the figure was only used to initiate discussions about the potential investment that could be made in the state.
