Bethany assault case is bound for circuit court

WELLSBURG — The case against a Norcross, Ga., man charged with assaulting two officers and destruction of property on July 29 at Bethany College has been bound over to the 1st Judicial Circuit Court.

Brandon L. Jackson, 21, of Norcross will face the felony charges there after appearing before Brooke County Magistrate Robin Snyder Monday while seeking a bond modification.

A condition of the $114,600 bond set for and posted by Jackson was that he not leave the local area.

But Ann Morelli, his legal counsel, sought and was granted permission for him to stay with a parent in Florida, provided he is under home confinement, until the case is resolved.

Brooke County officials will enlist officials in Florida for aid in enforcing the home confinement through a global positioning system-based tracking monitor.

The move is pending resolution of charges faced by Jackson in Allegheny County, Pa.

Jackson was attending Bethany College when he was reported throwing things out a third floor dorm window while bleeding.

According to police reports, Jackson struck a deputy in the face and bit another in the hand while resisting arrest. He also faces charges of fleeing and public intoxication.
