WELLSBURG — A Wellsburg woman has been charged with child neglect creating risk of injury or death for her alleged part in enabling her 1-year-old child to consume beer at their home.

Deeanna L. Donley, 29, of 22 Virginia Manor Drive East has been charged with the crime following an investigation by the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department and state Division of Child Protective Services.

Sheriff’s deputies received conflicting reports from Donley and others about whether the incident was an accident or the child was given up to half a can of beer.

According to police reports, no one took the child to the doctor after he was found to be lethargic and indicated his head hurt the following day.

Donley’s case is pending in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
