WEIRTON — Weirton police are searching for a suspect in connection to a pair of robberies in the city early Saturday morning.

At 12:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of a robbery at the 7-11 store on Pennsylvania Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were informed a black male had entered the business, jumped over the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the store’s register.

While detectives were processing the scene at 7-11, officers were called to Sheetz on Three Springs Drive, reporting the business had been robbed at gun point.

Officers arrived to reports of the same individual committing the robbery, also taking an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.

The individual was described as wearing black sweatpants, with red stripes going down the side, and a white shirt around his face to conceal his identity.
