Gerald Kamerer

KAMERER, Gerald V. “Jerry”, 83, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born December 4, 1929, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Oran R. and Iva “Pearl” (Gallagher) Kamerer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David W. Kamerer; and a brother, Oran J. Kamerer.

Jerry retired in 1993 after 43 years as an inspection foreman at the 80-inch at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a former councilman and member of the New Alexandria Fire Department and Harmony United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play various sports, making wooden yard decorations, and was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy G. (Schibley) Kamerer, two sons, Timothy (Linda) Kamerer of Wintersville, Jeff (Chris) Kamerer of New Alexandria; and daughter, Marsha Kamerer (Sean McGuire); a brother, Roland (Clara) Kamerer of La Habra, CA; two sisters, Ruth Wagner and Lillian Criss, both of Mingo Junction; a sister-in-law, Martha Kamerer of Mingo Junction; an aunt, Ruby Kamerer of Kittanning, PA; three grandchildren, Ali (Joey) Watkins, J.J. Kamerer and Jill (Justin) Smith; three great-grandchildren, Josie Grace Watkins, Jace Smith and Jett Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sam Davis, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
