Leolia Michelli

MICHELLI, Leolia Beryl Lee Richmond Bird, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Gables Care Center, Hopedale, OH.

She was born May 1, 1920, in Sanoma, WV, the daughter of the late Hallie Otto and Rhoda Lena Youst Lee.

Beryl was a former member of the Toronto North River Avenue Christian Church, and was currently a member of the New Somerset Christian Church in New Somerset, OH. She had taught Sunday School in various classes and had attended the Fosterville United Methodist Church and the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.

She was a volunteer at East Liverpool City Hospital as a chaplain for five years; was a volunteer at various nursing homes in the Steubenville area for nine years; was a member and Past Matron and past president of the Past Matron’s Club of the Toronto Chapter 215 of the Order of Eastern Star, and was an honorary member of the Steubenville Chapter of Eastern Star; a former member of the Knox Township, county, state and national Grange; graduated from the Hopedale High School class of 1938, and for years was a part of her high school reunion committee; worked at the former Toronto G.C. Murphy Store for 21 years, for Sears in Steubenville, Toronto Heritage Home Health, and as a custodian for the North River Avenue Christian Church and the Sugar Grove Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Foster Richmond (1971), Gordon Bird (1989), and James Michelli (2000); daughters, Evelyn Russell (2000), and Rhoda Larkins (2008); brother, Marvin Lee (1946); sisters, Lou Emma Carroll (1984), and Vivian L. Moore (2000).

Beryl is survived by her son, Hallie Bruce Richmond of California; brothers, Leslie Lee of Orlando, FL, Hallie Marcus Lee of Jewett, OH, and Garry B. Lee of Leesburg, FL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours for Beryl will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.

Toronto Eastern Star Services will be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A celebration service of Beryl’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 31, at the funeral home with Pastor George W. Coffman II officiating.

Interment will be at the Osage Cemetery, State Route 152, Toronto.

Memorial contributions in memory of Beryl may be made to the Toronto Chapter Order of Eastern Star, P.O. Box 324, Toronto, OH 43964.
