KAFTON, Shirley A. (LeMasters), 72, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at her home.
Shirley was born on January 2, 1941, in New Martinsville, WV. She was the daughter of the late Perry and Dorothy LeMasters.
Shirley was a member of the Olde St. John’s Episcopal Church, Colliers, WV. She enjoyed her morning friends at McDonald’s in Follansbee, WV, and had many different hobbies throughout her life. Shirley loved playing cards games, especially euchre, good discussions and great friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel E. Kafton Sr., and a son, Kevin R. Kafton.
Shirley is survived by her son, Daniel E. Kafton II of Follansbee, WV. She will be missed by Ernie Gambellin and his family, who was like a son to her and a brother to Daniel and special companion and dear family friend Debbie Schwertfeger, all of Follansbee, WV; and two sisters, Joyce (George) Lacik and Betty Bauer, both of Follansbee, WV. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at Olde St. John’s Church, corner of St. John’s Road and Eldersville Road, Colliers, with the Rev. Gene Sheppard officiating.
Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Colliers.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV.
