William Tharp

THARP, William A. “Bill,” 67, of Richmond, OH, passed away peacefully Saturday January 26, 2013, at his home after a long battle with cancer.

Bill was born April 18, 1945, in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Clyde and Gladys Milliken Tharp.

Bill was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. ,Mingo Plant as a scale repairman.

He coached the J.U. Little Yellow Jackets football team and the Jefferson Union/ Edison freshman and reserve football teams.

He was a graduate of T.H.S. class of 1963, played for the former Toronto Tigers football team, loved coon hunting and Blue Grass music.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Young; three brothers,, Glenn, Larry and Wayne Tharp; two sisters Jean Coil and Dolores Vecchione.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sandy (Peckens) Tharp of home; his daughter, Marla (Bryan) Young of Oxford, MI; two sons, William K., and Matthew (Amee) Tharp all of Richmond; his sister- in-law, Jessie Tharp of Richmond; six grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, OH. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Jeff Proya will provide Bill’s service and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
