BISHOP, Beatrice Lucille Welshans, 84, of Weirton, passed away February 15, 2013, in Acuity Specialty Hospital in Steubenville. She was born February 16, 1928, in Colliers to the late Clarence and Laura Burriss Welshans.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Colliers United Methodist Church. In 1972 Beatrice donated her kidney to her eldest son Jim and were among the longest surviving kidney donor and recipients. She and her husband had owned and operated Marina in Lake Seminole, GA. She surrounded herself with a loving family and many friends, and she had a great love for playing cards.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded her husband, Homer Bishop; a son, John Bishop; two brothers, William and Clarence Welshans; four sisters, Mary Marko, Thelma Graham, Ann Anderson, and Alice Welshans.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Bishop and his wife, Debbie, of Rochester, MN and Don Bishop and his wife, Jean, of Austin, TX; one daughter, Cheryl Ledger and her husband, Mike, of Wintersville, OH; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dwight Welshans, of Follansbee, WV.
Private interment will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Weirton. Arrangements by Reasner Funeral Home 1515 Charles St. Wellsburg.
