ZALTANI, Mike, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, after a brief stay in the Lancia Villa Nursing Home, Steubenville, OH.
Mike was born June 17, 1927, in Weirton, the son of the late Mike and Margaret Sabastyne Zaltani. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margarite Ostrich Zaltani who passed away in March 5, 2010.
During World War II, he served in the military as a member of the U.S. Army.
With 44 years of service, Mike retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the Tin Mill as a C.A. Operator. He was Presbyterian by faith and a member of the VFW 2716, American Legion Post 10, the American Legion Honor Guard, and WAARS. Mike was also a former member of the Weirton Area Water Board and enjoyed being part of the Weirton Area Radio Watch for many years.
Mike is survived by his sister-in-law, Stella Hawkins and her husband, Carl of Wintersville, OH; brother- in-law, George Ostrich of Weirton and his nieces, Carla Hawkins of Poland, Ohio; Rhonda (John) Clevenger of Wintersville, Ohio; Diane (Jack) Pool of Canfield, Ohio; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Private services celebrating the lives of Mike and Margarite, officiated by Reverend Philip Makari, were held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Greco- Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. They are both entombed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local humane society in memory of Mike and Margarite.
