Joseph Jack Cionni

CIONNI, Joseph Jack, Sr., 77, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Weirton Medical Center.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1935, in Follansbee, WV, a son of the late Camillo and Viola (Falbo) Cionni.

Joe graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central in 1953.

He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Follansbee, WV.

In his early years he was a self-employed contractor and was an avid cabinet maker having owned Cionni Cabinet Company. He later worked for 30 years out of the Ohio Carpenters Union Local 186 in Steubenville, OH.

Joe was a member of the Follansbee Garibaldi Lodge and Past President.

His true passion in life was being an Elk. He was member of the Wellsburg Elks Lodge (B.P.O.E. 1553) for 40 years and was made a lifetime honorary member of the lodge. He was also a Past Exalted Ruler.

Joe was a member of the West Virginia State Elk Association and Past State President and Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler.

Joe is survived by the love of his life his wife of 57 years, Betty (Verner) Cionni whom he married on June 25, 1955; four children, Joseph J. Cionni, Jr., Follansbee, WV, Bruce Cionni, Wellsburg, WV, Jeffrey (Sally) Cionni and Kimberly Cionni both of Follansbee, WV; one brother, Jack (Jone) Cionni, Follansbee, WV; one sister, Marie (Ronald) Work, Hartville, OH; five grandchildren, Joseph Cionni, III, Camilla Cionni, Bryan Cionni, Taylor Thompson, and Allena Cox; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Cionni, IV and Lilia Newman

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9th from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, May 10th from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV.

Elk’s services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. and a vigil service will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, in Follansbee, WV with Msgr. Paul Hudock as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, at 1017 Jefferson St., Follansbee, WV.
