Elizabeth J. ‘Betty’ Lago

LAGO, Elizabeth J. “Betty,” 86, of Pittsburgh formerly of Steubenville and Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully May 7, 2013, with her family by her side at The Baptist Homes of Pittsburgh.

She was born Feb. 9, 1927, in North Bay, Canada, the daughter of the late Daniel and Eileen Hennegan O’Connor.

Elizabeth was a Homemaker who was completely committed to her husband, daughter, granddaughter, friends and was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Pittsburgh and the former St. Pius X Catholic Church, Steubenville.

Elizabeth is also preceded in death by her husband, Benigo “Benny” Gomez Lago and one brother, Leo O’Connor.

Surviving are her daughter, Gail (William) Friedman of Pittsburgh; one granddaughter, Erica (Jim) Friedman-Coburn of New Jersey; one sister-in-law, Mary O’Connor of Ohio, Also many relatives in Canada and Spain, her lifelong friend, Pat McCarthy and her faithful visitor, Evelyn Petrich.

Friends are invited Saturday 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel.

Entombment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
