Lawrence H. ‘Tuffy’ Sprouse

SPROUSE, Lawrence H. “Tuffy”, Jr., 68, of St Rte 164, Salineville, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at his home surrounded by is family

Lawrence was born April 1, 1945, in Yellow Creek Township, Wellsville, a son of the late Lawrence H. Sprouse Sr. and Della Snyder Sprouse.

He attended Irondale School System for grades one through 11 and his senior year at Salineville High School graduating in the last graduating class of Salineville High School in 1963. He worked as a maintenane mechanic for TRW in Minerva, then began working as a steel hauler in 1970. He worked for Anchor Motor Freight and retired from Yellow Freight Oct. 31, 2007, after many yrs in a position he loved.

Lawrence attended Grant Hill United Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Jenkins Lodge 471 F. and A.M., Irondale, and a member of Teamster Local 407. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved auto racing, and belonged to the Tri-State Antique Automobile Club.

Lawrence will be sadly missed by two sons, Lawrence H. Sprouse III of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; Jason A. (Anita) Sprouse of Salineville, four brothers, Melvin (Lila Mae) Sprouse of Hammondsville, Charles Sprouse of Salineville, James (Mary) Sprouse of West Point, Donovan (Carolyn) Sprouse of Howland, Ohio, one sister, Carol Porter of Columbus, Ga., three grandchildren, Deziray Eckenrode, Blade Eckenrode, Cole Sprouse, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Scar.

A service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville, with Mike Ingole officiating.

Lawrence’s request was honored. After cremation, he is at rest in beautiful Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Cty Rd 55, two miles West of Irondale.
