Floyd Petrel

PETREL, Floyd Dale “Bud”, 79 of Colliers, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Brightwood Center in Follansbee, WV.

He was born on June 23, 1934, in Eldersville, PA, a son of the late James Mark and Veda Dale (Myers) Petrel.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, James, Edward, and Robert Petrel and four sisters, June Lee, Betty Stefkovich, Juanita Ignac, and Mary Petrel.

Floyd was a 1952 graduate of Burgettstown High School.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

After 36 years he retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he worked as a supervisor in Labor Relations.

He was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church, an avid softball player having pitched into his 64 year. Floyd was also a car enthusiast having a love for antique cars, sports cars, and a love for manicuring his lawn.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nancy Lee (Hunter) Petrel whom he married on August 21, 1954; two children, David (Jill) Petrel, Columbus, OH, and Lisa (David) Wert, Pittsburgh, PA; five grandchildren, Lindsey and Joshua Petrel, and Abby, Ava, and Alek Wert

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV where funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8th at 10 a.m. with Rev. Larry Garrison officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery Colliers, WV.

Full military honors will be conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
