KOSTELNIK, Milton, 91, of East Springfield passed away Thursday evening August 29, 2013 in his home.
A son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Roskos Kostelnik, he was born September 29, 1921 in Wolf Run, Ohio.
Milton was an Army veteran of World War II where he was stationed in Alaska on the Aleutian Islands. He started off working as a coal miner before going to work at Wheeling-Pitt Steel. Along with his brothers he worked to run the family farm in Wolf Run. A faithful member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Steubenville he was active in many activities, especially the church softball team.
He is survived by a son, Wayne (Cindy) Kostelnik of Wintersville; daughter, Beverly Slaggy of Heath, Ohio; sister, Eilzabeth Kostelnik of Wolf Run; five grandchildren, Susan (Steve) Herbster, Steven (Lori) Slaggy, April (Rob) Pearce, Amber Nelson, Christopher (Kim) Kostelnik; and six great- grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, the former Helen Majeros; five brothers, Andrew, John, Joseph, Edward, Daniel; and two sisters, Julia and Josephine.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Rev. David McCloskey officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam.
