ZIMNOX, Genevieve A. “Jennie” Zarych, 93, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.
She was born August 12, 1920, in McKinleyville, WV, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Drozdal) Zarych.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Duke” Zimnox; a son, David Zimnox; four brothers, Ben, John, Joseph and Edward Zarych; and a sister, Lucy Kostry.
Jennie attended and graduated from St. Agnes and Mingo High School. She was retired from Weirton Steel Co., with her last position at the Strip Steel accounting office.
Jennie was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and she was also a charter member of the former Annunciation Church in Mingo Junction where she was in the C.W.C. and the St. Francis Society.
Jennie was a loving mother, grandmother and wife and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Roberta) Zimnox of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and John (Amy) Zimnox of Charleston, WV; a daughter, Michele (Todd) Barnes of Toronto, Ohio; a sister, Stella Rutkowski of Mingo Junction, Ohio; nine grandchildren, John David (Jennifer) Zimnox, Dustin Zimnox, Genevieve (Simon) Harding, Devon (Sara) Zimnox, Nicole (Bill) Petrella, John Walter Zimnox, Corey Zimnox, Zane Zimnox and Ashley Barnes; and five great- grandchildren.
Visitation was held last Thursday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction. Funeral Liturgy with Mass was Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, as celebrant.
Entombment followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.
