Walter Hanley

HANLEY, Walter J. “Bucky,” 93, of Weirton, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Carriage Inn.

He was born February 15, 1920, in Tiltonsville. He is the son of the late James E. and Lorena Esthom Hanley.

Walter is also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Hanley.

Walter was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, was retired from Weirton Steel in 1982 where he was an industrial engineer, and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Ohio University.

Surviving are his wife, Roberta Burns Hanley whom he married October 15, 1955; one son, David Hanley of Weirton; three daughters, Kathleen (Luke) Friend of Milford, OH, Karen Smith of Annapolis, MD, and Karla (Edward) Baker of Dover, PA; one sister, Helen Stroud of Richmond, VA; and five grandchildren.

Calling hours are Sunday 3-7 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville.

A funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 200 Rosemont Ave., Steubenville, Fr. Bradley Greer, celebrant. There will be a vigil service Sunday at 4:45 p.m.

Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
