James R. Waters
WATERS, James R., 63, of Slovan, was called home by the Lord his Savior on Tuesday afternoon, October 8, 2013 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on June 26, 1950 in Wheeling, W.V.
A 1968 graduate of Union High School, Burgettstown he was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict.
After being honorably discharged, a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, he worked for and retired after 35 years from Weirton Steel Corporation.
Up until August 2013 he worked for the American Association for the Blind in Washington where he drove people to and from their doctor’s appointments.
Mr. Waters attended the Hickory U.E. Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie Pirillo Waters; a daughter, Jennifer Harvey of Houston; a son, Jim Waters and wife, Rebecca of Florida; two grandchildren, Jacob and Emily who were the joys of his life.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather who will be tremendously missed by his family and friends as a great man who made many accomplishments in his life.
To honor Mr. Waters’ wishes, there will be no public visitation. Services and interment with military honors will be held in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown.
