SWIGER, Kenneth Franklin, 86, of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.
He was born April 25, 1927 in Mingo Jct., OH, the son of the late Clair Kenneth and Lucy Huggins Swiger.
Kenny had attended the Bray’s Chapel United Methodist Church; was a member of the Odd Fellows, lifetime member of the Toronto American Legion Post No. 86, Toronto VFW Post No. 6906, Toronto Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1276.
He served his country in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II in the Navy and was retired from the Weirton Steel Company.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty J. Wells Swiger who passed away in 2000 and whom he married August 14, 1946, sons, Robert and Larry Swiger; daughter, Lucy Swiger Rex and granddaughter, Tamara Swiger.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth C. Swiger of Steubenville, OH, and Ernest Daniel Swiger of Toronto, OH; daughter, Deborah Lee Swiger King of Toronto, OH; grandchildren, Jason Eric Swiger, Shannon Conlra, Jeremy Swiger, Tammy Lee Firm, Jennifer Firm, Russell Firm Jr., Paula Swiger, Stephanie King, Kristy Aplegarth, Angela Pipo, Bridget Adams, Honey Hosenfeld, Douglas Cole, Bobby and Kaitlyn Swiger; 15 great- grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation and services for Kenny will be private at the convenience of his family.
Memorial contributions in memory of Kenny may be made to the Valley Hospice, 10686 State Rt. 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
Kenny’s arrangements are in the care of the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto.
