Betty Mae Spencer

SPENCER, Betty Mae, age 93, of Stratton, OH, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV.

She was born December 21, 1919 in Wheeling, WV the daughter of the late Frank and Wilma (Nolte) Yost.

Betty was a member of the Empire United Methodist Church, Empire, OH; was an avid bowler and belonged to the W.I.B.C. Women’s International Bowling Conference and was a 50 year member of the Steubenville and Weirton Moose Lodges.

She is retired as a maintenance aid at the Jefferson County Department of Human Services.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett M. Spencer in 1977 and whom she married September 20, 1939; son, Everett M. Spencer, Jr.; daughters, Linda Spencer Brooks and Kathleen “Kathy” Spencer Bell; great-granddaughter, Bianca Rose Hall; brother, Kenneth Yost and sister, Mildred Yost.

Her survivors are her daughter, Wendy Jo Spencer of the family home in Stratton; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister – Norma Ryan of Steubenville, OH.

Friends and family will gather for visitation 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday, November 23 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.

A celebration service of Betty’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Susan Clegg officiating. Burial will follow at the Ft. Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH.
