Donald ‘Skip’ Rowles

ROWLES, Donald “Skip,” 79, of Weirton, formerly of Steubenville, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2013, at LifeLine Hospital, Wintersville.

Skip was born December 27, 1933, the son of the late Elmer and Goldie Rowles.

Skip was a graduate of Follansbee High School Class of 1951, served his country for 21 years in the U. S. Navy Reserve, retiring as a petty officer first class, and retired from Continental Can Corporation, where he was a pressman.

Following his retirement, he and his wife Jackie were the proprietors of the former Stag and Doe Club, Weirton. He was an active member of the Weirton Elks and Moose and exhibited his talent as an amateur photographer with the Camera Club of the Upper Ohio Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Judith “Jackie” Buchanan Rowles; children, Brenda (Michael A.) Olenick, of Doylestown, PA, Diane (Dallas) Kupfer, of Minerva, OH, Don (Becky) Rowles,of Jacksonville, Fl; and stepchildren, Tracy (Eric) Rice, and Shannon Jewell; all of Weirton; nine grandchildren Amy (Vinnie) Paccapaniccia, Leah (Vince) Pizzi, Michael C. (Rachel) Olenick, Kisha Curry, Danielle Kupfer, Lacey Messenger, Devon Rice , DeJae Jewell, Taylor Jewell; and four great- grandchildren Julia and Claire Paccapaniccia, Hunter and Presley Curry.

His wife of 34 years, Dorothy Heale Rowles, preceded him in death on October 7, 1990.

Calling hours are Monday 5-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates.
