Shirley L. Wargo
WARGO, Shirley Loraine (White), 78, a homemaker of Toronto, OH, went to be with the Lord Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.
Preceded in death by her father, William Benton White; and her mother, Mary M. (Straka) White; her husband, John C. Wargo; and granddaughter, Shanna Dawn Chamberlain.
Shirley was born in Croxton’s Run, Toronto, OH, March 2, 1935; graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1953, and also graduated with highest honors from Jefferson Technical College in 1991.
She is survived by sisters Phyllis Alvis of Toronto, OH, and Doris Conlon of Toronto, OH; brothers, Don White of Stratton, OH, and Roger White of Pymatuning Lake; her children, Becky Johnson of Newark, OH, Lance Wargo and wife, Patti of Toronto, OH, Johanna Wargo of Massillon, OH, Erik Wargo and wife, Shari of Richmond, OH, and Nicole Wade of Toronto, OH; grandchildren include Jessica and Tyler Johnson, Jeremy Connelly, Tyler Knowles, Derek Wargo, Cole Wargo, Marcus Hesske, Justen Wargo and Madison Wade; her great-grandchildren are Zack Burger and Lily Wilburn; stepchildren, Brittany Wargo and Cassie Florczak and her children Leigha and Thomas. She also leaves behind her friend of many years, Daya (Riffle) Pethal; and her beloved cat, LeRoy.
Shirley lived a full happy life and was truly loved by all who knew her. She had exceptional knowledge of all things possible. She had a passion for gardening and flowers, and was a diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan. She never missed a game.
Visitation for Shirley will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
A celebration service of Shirley’s life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH, with Pastor Jared Robison officiating and interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.
