Edward Wilks

WILKS, Edward Joseph, 88, of East Springfield, passed away Saturday evening, December 7, 2013, in Weirton Medical Center following an extended illness.

A son of the late Joseph and Lottie Wilks, he was born November 10, 1925, in Amsterdam, Ohio.

He was a retired mechanic for Wilks Chevrolet in Amsterdam, and a retired school bus driver for Edison Local with 42 years of service. A former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amsterdam, Knight of Columbus, Amsterdam VFW, and the Steel Valley Antique Car Club.

He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Smith, whom he married August 30, 1946; two sons, Tom (Winnis) Wilks of Mount Vernon, OH, and Mike (Pamela) Wilks of Tipp City, OH; a daughter, Kathy (Robert) Monyak of Robinson Township, PA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Jack McCoy officiating. Entombment will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, Ohio. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam.
