Walter Ostrowsky

OSTROWSKY, Walter S., 93 of Wintersville, died Tuesday December 3, 2013, at home.

He was born January 17, 1920, in Steubenville, the son of the late Stanley and Alice Wolensky Ostrowsky.

Walter is also preceded in death by his brother, Anthony; sisters, Laura Ostrowsky, Louise Machesny and Virginia Kuczykowski.

Walter worked at the former Ohio Foundry, the village of Wintersville public utilities until 1977 and then Kobacker’s until his retirement in 1985

Surviving are his wife, Ralphina “Rae” Mastroianni Ostrowsky whom he married January 19, 1944, one son, Stanley (Judy) Ostrowsky of Wintersville; two grandchildren, John Ostrowsky and Beth Dambra; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand- child.

Walter is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and its St. Francis society, the Knights of Columbus Council 472, the VFW and the American Legion Post 557, Wintersville.

Walter served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Calling hours are Thursday 4-8 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 9:30 am Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Msgr. Kurt Kemo, celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be vigil service at 4 pm Thursday.
