Josef Samide

SAMIDE, Josef, 80, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.

Josef was born on Oct. 30, 1933, in Gottschee, Yugoslavia. He was the son of the late Johann and Gertrud (Logar) Samide.

Josef served in the United States Army and the Army Reserve. He was Catholic by faith. Josef worked as a Master GM Mechanic at various GM, Pontiac, and Oldsmobile dealerships. He was a member of the VFW Post 80, Steubenville, OH and the former Eagle’s, Follansbee, WV.

In addition to his parents, Josef was preceded in death by his brother- in-law, Bill Rider and uncle and aunt, Ignaz and Josefa Logar.

Josef is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie (Young) Hubbard of Steubenville, OH, two children, James Hubbard of Wintersville, OH and Douglas (Jackie) Hubbard of Weirton, WV, four grandchildren, Christopher Hubbard, Richard Clemens, Brandon and Brad Hubbard, two great-grandsons, a devoted sister, Margaret Rider and her fiance, Parker Burkett of Follansbee, WV, a niece, Monika (Doug) Sykes of Follansbee, WV, a nephew, Lance Rider of Follansbee, WV, two great-nieces, Tiffany and Brittany Puskarish and a great-great-niece, London A. Taylor.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, from 2-4 and 6:30-9 p.m. with Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV, (304-527-1717) where funeral will commence on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Noon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson Street, Follansbee, WV, with Father Pete Giannamore, celebrating.

Cremation will follow, Interment will be held at a private ceremony at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, WV with Military Honors by the United States Army and the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
