BICKERSTAFF, William R. “Bill,” 75, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, Ohio.
He was born February 15, 1938, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late William A. and Gertrude (Kolling) Bickerstaff. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda J. (Tressler) Bickerstaff on September 19, 2007; and two brothers, Donald and Robert Bickerstaff.
Bill retired in 1994 after 27 years of service in the Production Planning Dept. at Weirton Steel Corp. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a former sheriff’s deputy for Jefferson County; a former Wells Twp. Constable and chief; and member of the Smithfield Police Department and the F.O.P. Lodge 97 out of Wintersville, Ohio.
Surviving are three daughters, Deborah (Charles) Stevens, Linda “Lin” (Greg) Powers and Billie Jo Renzelli all of Mingo Junction; and nine grandchildren, Justin (Brandy) Glasgow, Amanda (Jonathan) Price, Terry Davis, Jr., Nickolas Davis, Eugene T. Renzelli, Eric Renzelli, Stephanie (Todd) Nuzum, Megan Powers, Rachael Powers and Alan Stevens; and two great-grandchildren, Ada and Rylan Price.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant on Friday, January 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and also on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at noon with Rev. Sam Retzer, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
