GALOWNIA, Alfons A. “Fagan,” 95, of Steubenville, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Lancia Villa Royale.
He was born October 27, 1918, in Steubenville, the son of the late Victor and Mary Leluk Galownia.
Alfons is also preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Galownia, two brothers, Stanley and Frank Galownia, and one sister, Regina Haysler.
Alfons was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, was retired from Weirton Steel, sheet mill department, served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Antoinette Urbano Galownia whom he married June 27, 1948; one daughter, Mary Jo (Rick) Lorenzi of Steubenville; one brother, John Galownia of Steubenville; two grand- children, Ashley Lorenzi (Fiance Kevin Johnston) of Pittsburgh and Dima Lorenzi; and one great-grandaughter on the way.
The family would like to thank Lancia Villa Royale and Valley Hospice for all their Kindness during the few days my dad was there.
A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated noon today at Holy Family Catholic Church, Msgr. Gerald Calovini, celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service at 6:45 p.m.
