Joyce Solomon

SOLOMON, Joyce, 71, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH

She was born May 17, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Alfred and Charlotte Kaminski Sulek.

Joyce was a retired Registered Nurse having worked over the years at St. John’s Hospital, Northern Ohio Speech and Hearing Assoc. and Red Cross. She also was a school nurse at St. Francis School in Toronto, Catholic Central High School and Aquinas Catholic School both in Steubenville.

Joyce was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toronto, a longtime member of the choir and the C.W.C.

Surviving is her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Solomon, whom she married June 27, 1964; her son, Joseph J. Solomon, of Toronto; her two daughters, Jacqueline Solomon of Wilmington, NC and Jeanine Solomon (Christian Corso) of Broadview Hights., OH; her brother, John (Molly) Sulek, of Cumberland, MD, and her sister, Charlene (Jon) Flickinger, of Sterling, VA. Joyce also touched the hearts of many other dear family members and friends.

Visitation for Joyce will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. in Toronto, OH. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9- 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Her Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church on North River Ave. in Toronto. Father Thomas Vennetti will celebrate the Mass and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. A vigil service will be held on Monday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
