Roosevelt Dawson

DAWSON, Mr. Roosevelt “Buddy”, 81, of Steubenville, OH, passed away on February 27, 2014 in Steubenville.

He was born on March 13, 1932 to Golden and Rebecca Smith Dawson in Steubenville.

He was an alumni of the Steubenville Public School System and also attended Law Enforcement Training School. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was a member of the male chorus. Buddy was also a Mason and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and was an avid Big Red fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Rebecca Smith Dawson; five sisters, Emma Lee Dixon, Katie Williams, Evelyn Goines, Floretta Dawson, Catherine Johnson; brother, Leland Dawson; one daughter, Anita Wilson; two sons, Kenneth Palmer and Jeffrey Dawson; three grandsons, Jermaine Crawford, Jeffrey Geiger and David Wilson.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Mrs. Pearl Dawson of Steubenville, OH; three daughters, Cassandra (Robert) Glanton of Bridgeville, PA, Karen (Jerome) Crawford of Steubenville, OH, Myrna (Ralph) Johnson of Fayetteville, GA; four sons Craig Dawson of Pittsburgh, PA, Todd (Cutrece) Dawson of Steubenville, OH, Kip (Kelly) Dawson of Stockton, CA, Lavern (Shelley) Carter of Pennsylvania; one sister, Barbara Middlebrooks of Lorain, OH; one brother, Albert Dawson, Sr. of Smithfield, OH; a host of grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Rev. Norris A. Hood, Sr. officiating.
