TOGETHER AGAIN

DEL GALLO, Louis “Lou,” Sr., 92, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the Villa Vista Nursing Home in Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born March 3, 1922 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a son of the late Guy and Marie (Tiberio) Del Gallo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Montgomery) Del Gallo on January 31, 2014; one brother, Nicky Del Gallo; and seven sisters, Ida Caputo, Angel Basso, Alice Trigiani, Alvar Riskey, Anita Mason, Rita Del Gallo and Rose Ruggiero.

Lou was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was a retired electrician from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.

He was a volunteer little league and pony league baseball coach; and he also liked football, reading, gardening, fishing and he built his own stereo system. He especially enjoyed talking about and sharing pictures of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lou was a member of the Schutzen Club and St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons, Louis Del Gallo, Jr. of Louisville, Ohio and David Del Gallo of Orange, CA; two daughters Mary Frances (Ernest) Chiudioni of Canton, Ohio, and Donna (Albert) Checca of Massillon, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Johns for his many visits and talks with their dad and also the staff at Villa Vista. They also want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ross and family for being more than just good neighbors; and his friends from the Spot Bar on South Fourth Street in Steubenville.

In following with Lou’s wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed in Lou’s memory to the military support organization Blue Star Mothers, Ohio Chapter 2, P.O. Box 2375, N. Canton, Ohio 44720.
