Verchie O. Dodd

DODD, Verchie O., 93, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Sarah in Rochester, NY.

She was born May 1, 1920, in New Martinsville, WV, a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Wellin) Howell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Dodd; a daughter, Ida Mae Helt; a brother, Harley Howell; and two sisters, Burnice Jackson and Mary Thompson.

Verchie was a homemaker and a former member of the Church of Christ in Steubenville. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed crocheting.

Surviving are two daughters, Sarah Jane (Joseph) Cole of Rochester, NY and Elaine Johnson of Worthington, OH; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Carpino, officiating.

Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed in Verchie’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.
