Delbert Mercer

Delbert “Alan” Mercer, 52, of Weirton, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014, in the UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

Born January 6, 1962, in Washington, PA, he was a son of Mary Mercer of Weirton.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Harris; sister-in-law, Teeny Johnson; brother-in-law, George Lemasters; and grandparents, Russell “Pap” and Elizabeth “Dee Dee” Prochaska.

For eight years, Alan served as a cook at Eat N’Park in Weirton. He was an avid sports fan especially the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates and Steelers. He enjoyed woodworking with his nephew Zak and cheering for Penn State.

In addition to his mother, Alan is survived by his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth “Rose” Lemasters Mercer; brother, Karl Harris; sister, Misty Taylor and sister-in-laws Dolly (Gomer) Boyer, Russy (Heather) Lemasters; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and other special family members.

Visitation will be held Monday from 2 p.m. until the 8 p.m. funeral service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mr. Paul Swiger will officiate.

Private interment will be held at the convenience of his family.
