Kathleen ‘Katie’ Carroll

CARROLL, Kathleen “Katie,” 89, of Steubenville, died on Monday, May 6, 2014, at Bolger Country Club Manor

She was just shy of her 90th birthday.

Kathleen was born in Paducah, KY, on June 21, 1924, the oldest daughter of Butch and Grace Brewer Carroll.

She outlived her two younger sisters, Betty Jane Mosti of Steubenville and Joan Loving of Wilmington, OH.

Kathleen suffered a stroke in her early 70’s that confined her physically, but it never limited her capacity to love her family. Kathleen cherished time spent with them.

Even though she never had any children of her own, she was a steadfast Aunt to her sister’s children, Joan’s daughters, Carrie Jo (Doug) DeVilbiss, Meg (Stu) Allen both of Columbus, and Lee Ann (Matt) Neff of Indianapolis, and Betty Jane’s children, Susan Mavromatis (David) Reese of AZ, and David (Marilyn) Mosti of Steubenville. She loved them unconditionally.

Kathleen will be remembered for being a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan who never missed watching a game. Nothing made her happier than a win for either team or sitting outside enjoying the fresh air. We know she is sitting in her Field of Dreams ballpark now, with the sun shining, and the Pirates in the lead.
